The New Evangelization

The New Evangelization

Encountering Jesus Christ in the Joy of the Gospel

Christ the King is in the beginning stages of an exciting transformation, called The New Evangelization.  This dynamic plan will challenge each of us to deepen our faith, believe in the Gospel message and go forth to proclaim it to all we encounter. The focus of The New Evangelization calls all Catholics to be evangelized and then go forth to evangelize, and invites each Catholic to renew their relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church.  The Council of Vatican II provided clear requirements for the implementation of The New Evangelization, as can be seen in the Richmond Diocesan Five Year Plan to be implemented by all parishes of the diocese.

Year One: of the Diocesan Plan emphasizes personal growth in “Encountering Jesus Christ in the Joy of the Gospel” and building a closer, more personal relationship with Christ.  That continues into Year Two, which focuses on The Domestic Church, the family.  Year Three will help to equip us as a Parish to live out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.  It is here that the parish joins us to our fellow disciples, across cultures, genders, economic strata and educational levels, and teaches us how to love beyond our domestic church.  Year Four is about Missioning Disciples Locally.  Here, the New Evangelization is about igniting the faithful for the mission of gathering in the lost and forsaken, and embracing all who are open to hearing the Gospel, especially within our parish boundaries.  Year Five, Missioning Disciples Globally; seeks to focus on Christ’s love for all the world, Christ’s redemption of all of creation, and Christ’s call to set the world ablaze with his love.

The New Evangelization Ministry is responsible for the vision and strategic planning of The New Evangelization initiatives within CTK Parish.  It empowers the parish ministries to tactically plan and implement the strategic plan and vision.

Our Mission is: to cooperate with Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, in leading all souls to the Father, by witnessing and proclaiming the Gospel, nurturing family life and making the teachings of Jesus Christ central to our lives.

Our Purpose is: To radiate the light of Christ into our families, parish, community and world and to bring the saving grace of Jesus Christ into all our environments.
